Information Evening for 2027
We will be holding an information evening on Wednesday, 9 September, 7pm at Harrington Park Community Centre. This will be an opportunity to meet the teachers, hear more about the program, and also to ask any questions you may have.
Our Philosophy of Education
Education is about formation, not just information.
Humans grow primarily by imitation rather than by soulless instruction.
So we want to provide our students with an environment that:
Has models worth imitating
Relentlessly pursues truth
Provokes wonder and delight in God’s world
Our teachers are selected based on their agreement with these principles. We require our teachers to:
Love God
Love their students
Love their subjects
Be gifted in communicating this delight
-
This is goodness personified.
Being an expert in a subject is not enough. Our children must catch the vision of virtue, wisdom and a deep hunger for truth, moral and academic excellence and beauty.
We specifically select teachers who embody these characteristics. We want our students to find the world fascinating. We want children to find goodness compelling and attractive.
-
There is such a thing a truth.
We know it’s not a popular idea these days. But sometimes the truth is not popular.
Our teachers love the truth and we want our students to love the truth as well.
Our goal is not only to have our students catch our love for truth, but also to give them the tools they need to pursue truth.
That’s why we encourage critical thinking, careful analysis, comparison to Biblical ideas and engagement with primary texts.
-
God is beautiful.
This world is beautiful.
History is a glorious story.
We get excited about these things because they are worth getting excited about.
There is nothing worse than a bored child or a boring lecture about history, literature, science, music or art. These subjects are fascinating because they were made by an infinitely fascinating God.
Our teachers aim to ignite a passion for God and his world in our students. That’s why we only hire teachers who see the glory. They are the only ones who can show it to a child.
Meet our Teachers
-
Thomas began his working life as a Chemical Engineer. He is in pastoral ministry, lectures in Literature at Emmanuel College Sydney and helps people connect with great books at Koorong. As he and his wife began to have their children, they began to engage deeply in education coming to the conclusion that a classical Christian education is the best education they can provide their children. This led Tom to work with Emmanuel College Sydney and to begin to set up home school tutoring groups which became Logos Classical Academies.
Tom wants children to see the world as a radiant display of God’s glory. He believes that education should seek to show children the glory of God in the Bible, the gospel, history, literature and creation.
